Snowboard Instructor

Minimal Experience Required. 

Position Purpose

(FT/PT Winter Seasonal Position) The Snowboard Instructor is responsible for teaching Snowboarding and/or Skiing skills and techniques in a clear and concise manner per the department's policies and progressions. The Ski Instructor will possess the ability to physically and verbally demonstrate the tasks associated with the progressions, act as an educator in regard to crowd supervision, safety awareness, terrain park etiquette and guest relations by performing duties. During the course of employment employees will be exposed to winter weather conditions and varied conditions such as stairways, multi-level buildings, slippery surfaces and changing schedules. Proper clothing, footwear and equipment are a must. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Teach alpine skiing and/or snowboarding to beginner to intermediate-ability students, using PSIA/AASI teaching methods and following the safety codes of the mountain.
• Plan, organize, and implement ability-appropriate lessons.
• Promote and emphasize safety in all classes.
• Maintain a positive attitude and encourage further learning by teaching high-quality lessons.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Ability to carry out all job related tasks in a safe and efficient manner observing company and department safety and security procedures, determine appropriate action beyond guidelines, if necessary, report potentially unsafe conditions and use equipment and materials properly
• Ability to maintain control of a group of Guests, of any age, providing a safe and productive environment
• Ability to attend at least fifteen (15) hours of training per season
• Ability to meet, greet and inform Guests at assigned locations
• Ability to deal with possible incidents arising out of lessons, file proper reports accurately and timely, and follow all the rules regarding incident reporting
• Ability to adapt to changes in work environment, delays or unexpected events
• Ability to consistently arrive at work on time, follow instructions, respond to management direction, commit to work hours to reach goals, and attend all required staff meetings

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Must be able to spend a full day on skis/snowboard.
• Must be able to work for an extended period of time in varying weather conditions, including extreme cold and/or wind.
• Must be able to work at high altitudes for an extended period of time.
• Must be able to physically and verbally demonstrate the tasks associated with the learning progressions.
• Must be able to multi-task and exercise good judgment
