HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, technicians, and developers. Share expertise in mechanical design, testing methods, and product development processes while fostering professional growth and development.
  • Innovation & Development: Lead the direction and philosophy for mechanical design in high-end bicycles. Collaborate with category product managers to ensure Specialized remains at the forefront of performance. Oversee design projects, working closely with cross-functional teams and external partners to bring innovative projects to life.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Utilize your technical knowledge to address and resolve engineering challenges related to mechanical design. Work on complex problems and develop solutions that enhance the performance of our mountain bikes.
  • Prototyping & Testing: Execute advanced level fabrication and part creation to support advanced R&D projects. Lead comprehensive lab and field tests on projects, ensuring rigorous testing and validation of new technologies.
  • Project Management: Build and manage product development timelines, ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget. Facilitate communication between cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment and collaboration across departments.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Prepare detailed documentation for product specifications and testing results. Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders, providing clear and actionable insights.

wHAT YOU NEED TO WIN

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical) with 10 or more years of mechanical design experience, OR 15 years of mechanical design experience.
  • Proven expertise in mechanical design and technology development, with a track record of leading innovative projects from concept to production.
  • Experience leading a team of engineers and technicians.
  • Collaboration and technical leadership skills, with the ability to manage, delegate, and prioritize team and project timelines effectively.
  • Autonomous decision-making ability with a strategic mindset to develop and recommend technologies that push the envelope of performance.
  • Advanced CAD skills and modeling experience.
  • Ability to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) related to project timelines, innovation milestones, and team development.
  • Passion for mountain biking and the drive to create exceptional ride experiences that enhance customer satisfaction and safety.

PAY

Below is a summary of compensation elements for this role at the company if based in the following locations:

California Base Pay Range: ($119,628 - $208,153 r)

*At Specialized, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package and will depend on your work experience, skills, certification, and location.
