Mountain Recreation is seeking a Supervisor on Duty for our Edwards Field House. In this role, you’ll be the friendly face that welcomes our guests, processes admissions, and ensures every interaction delivers outstanding service to both visitors and staff. Responsibilities include operating a computer system, handling payments, answering phones, training and supporting team members, and overseeing daily opening and closing procedures.

POSITION DETAILS

Job Title: Supervisor on Duty

Location: Edwards Field House (Edwards, CO)

Schedule: Part-Time; Year-Round

Work Environment: Depending on facilities and program, duties may be performed either indoors or outdoors, which may include working in extreme weather conditions. Work schedule is varied and may require evenings, weekends, and holidays. Hours vary depending upon the needs of the facility. The flow of work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention much or all the time. Physical exertion includes frequent walking, bending and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted, pushing, pulling, and kneeling in order to deliver equipment and supplies. Job stress may include dealing with crowds, uncooperative participants, difficult individuals, exposure to illness and periods of continuous demand.


Supervision Required: Works under the supervision of the Edwards Field House Facility Supervisor and Facility Coordinator

Supervision Exercised: Exercises direct supervision over facility support staff at assigned facility.


Salary: $20.47-$25.59/hour; staff in this position are eligible for a $1/hour incentive for Spanish/English bilingual and can pass the language competency test.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

General Statement of Duties: Facilitate the operation of recreation facility with some independence. Maintain supervision and security over the recreation facility. Promote an environment consistent with program philosophies and goals.


Examples of Duties:

  • Manage the running of the facility, including opening/closing duties, managing the on-duty staff and ensuring the smooth running of operations, programs and the customer experience.
  • Provide high level customer service and build rapport and lasting relationships with prospective and current players and teams.
  • Deal with all inquiries/bookings effectively and efficiently including taking payments.
  • Have knowledge of all the district’s programs and products
  • Maintain positive attitude, take initiative, and work as a cohesive team with all district staff members to ensure efficiency and camaraderie.
  • The position entails working a flexible shift pattern to provide staff coverage at all times; regular presence required to oversee weeknight and weekends programs/events.
  • Such other duties as may be necessary from time to time, compatible with the nature of the position. It should be noted that this list is not exhaustive and serves simply to give an overall view of and key responsibilities of the position.
  • Supervises patrons in facility programs and ensures safe use of facilities. Maintains security of facility. Reports on vandalism and theft.
  • Responds to accidents or incidents according to procedures. Notifies supervisor and appropriate law enforcement or emergency services if necessary. Maintains      all related records.
  • Sets up and break down of equipment and facilities.
  • Communicates with players, volunteers, coaches and spectators regarding game information and behavior as needed.
  • Provides leadership and direction to Facility staff and volunteers.
  • Notifies supervisor of any safety issues with equipment or playing environment
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned. 
Requirements


COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Considerable knowledge of: recreation facility management, including facility operations and risk management


Skills and abilities: demonstrate initiative; exercise some independent decision making; provide leadership from within team; effectively communicate with members, volunteers, players, coaches, spectators; establish and maintain positive, respectful, and cooperative relationships with all contacts.


Requirements:

Education and experience:

  • Must be 18 years or older; AND
  • High school graduation or equivalency; AND
  • One-year previous work-related experience with recreation facility supervision and organized sports and game management; OR
  • Any satisfactory combination of experience and training.
  • Bilingual preferred English/Spanish.

Certifications

  • May require possession of or ability to obtain a valid First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
