Location:
Pine Ridge Elementary, Bend, OR Status: Summer Seasonal, 10-20 hours/week*
- Schedule: June 16th - Aug 16th, Monday - Friday

AM: Monday - Friday, 7am - 9am PM: Monday - Friday, 3:30pm - 5:30pm *Additional work opportunities available for applicants over age 25 possessing a valid driver’s license and 3 years of clean driving record Mandatory Training Dates: June 14th-16th

Program Overview:
SummerKids is a weekly theme-based day camp for youth in 1st through 6th grade and is hosted at Pine Ridge Elementary. We offer extended hour options for families in the form of our Extended Care program, which occur outside of normal camp hours. This program can have 35-45 youth within 1st-6th grade.
All staff at SummerKids are invaluable members of our team who are role models, motivators, team builders, educators, and spark champions. They facilitate a safe, fun, and confidence-building summer for all our campers. As part of the Extended Care team, staff will implement planned activities, contribute ideas, and help to ensure a memorable experience for the campers, their families, and the other Camp Fire staff in the SummerKids community. We strive to create an environment where each camper and staff member has a sense of belonging, opportunities to share passions, and a place to thrive.
Position Overview:
Extended Care staff will lead games and activities, connect with families, and manage the physical and emotional safety for a group of 35-45 youth. Extended Care staff will get direct support from the SummerKids Leadership Team to ensure consistent practices around behavior management, activity facilitation, and the creation of a welcome and supporting environment. Opportunities for additional hours to support core camp staff may be offered.
Essential Duties + Responsibilities:
Arrive to your scheduled shift in time to prepare the space and activities
- Follow and facilitate structured extended care activity schedule
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of shared program space
- Ensure shared program space is ready for the start of regular camp hours
Initiate and sustain daily communication with leadership team regarding extended care happenings (e.g activity schedule, supplies, behaviors, parent communication)
Skill and Qualifications:
Applicants who do not meet all of the qualifications listed below but present other relevant qualifications or experience will be considered. We strongly encourage anyone who feels passionate about this work, has a strong desire to grow their skills, and believes they have what it takes to thrive in this role to apply.
Experience working directly with elementary aged youth or demonstrated desire to learn OR some higher education, classwork, or training in the youth development field or other related fields:
- Training and experience with best practices in teaching, group management, planning and designing activities, social-emotional learning, and trauma informed care for elementary youth
First Aid/CPR certified (or ability to get certified by start date or soon after) Applicant must have graduated high school by June 2026 Commitment to creating and maintaining a safe, equitable, and inclusive environment
- Demonstrated ability to create developmental relationships and connect with youth and staff
Ability to effectively manage groups of youth Strong verbal communication skills with youth

Compensation: $19-$21/hour, depending on experience.
