General Description:
The Lead Summer Camp Counselor plays a key role in overseeing the daily operations of Camp CCC, ensuring that all counselors and campers have a fun, safe, and engaging experience. In addition to supervising and participating in camp activities, this role involves training new counselors and providing leadership in maintaining a high level of professionalism, creativity, and organization. The Lead Counselor serves as a point of contact for camp staff, helping to resolve issues, enforce safety policies, and ensure an exceptional experience for all campers and their families.

Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates leadership in ensuring a positive and productive camp environment.
- Provides mentorship and training to new and returning counselors.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for any immediate concerns or escalations during camp hours.
- Fosters strong relationships with campers, parents, and the Youth Activities team.
- Maintains a professional demeanor, adhering to dress code and club policies.
- Supports additional club events when needed, including youth and family programming.
- Leads by example in supervising and engaging campers in age-appropriate activities.
- Ensures adherence to all safety policies, including pool safety and emergency procedures.
- Supervise and actively engage campers throughout daily activities, including swim periods.
- Confidently monitor campers in the pool and aquatic areas to ensure safety at all times.
- Serve as an in-water presence during designated swim times as needed.
- Enforce all camp and pool safety rules and emergency procedures.
- Assists in planning, preparing, and setting up activities while ensuring smooth transitions through the day.
- Communicates effectively with parents and caregivers regarding camper needs, behavior, and daily updates.
- Resolves camper conflicts in a constructive manner and supports behavior management techniques.
- Conducts routine checks of camp materials, ensuring proper storage and maintenance.
- Encourages creativity and innovation by suggesting new activities, games, and camp experiences.
- Provides feedback and recommendations for camp improvement.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid First Aid and Infant/Child CPR Certifications.
- Six months experience working with groups of children ages 6-months – 12 years.
- Ability to communicate effectively, fluent in English.
- Ability to provide basic hygiene services for young children.
- Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment, while supervising children.
- Must have a positive, upbeat, friendly attitude and enjoy providing five-star customer service.
- Must be a team player who can develop strong and positive working relationships with all staff.
- Confident swimmer with the ability to comfortably and safely monitor campers in a pool setting, remaining alert and attentive during all aquatic activities
- Ability to swim competently and remain in the water for extended periods as needed.
- Ability to actively supervise campers outdoors in summer conditions.
- Ability to lift, move, and assist children as necessary.
