opportunity:
for a Director of Recreation at our Walmart client site located in Bentonville, AR. In this role, you will be responsible for all programming and operations of a large recreation program. You and your team will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring a safe and friendly environment for all of the recreation facility members and guests.
You’ll oversee all day-to-day operations of the recreation facilities, including but not limited to the staff, program scheduling, rentals, private instruction, tournaments and special events and facility safety.
- Responsible for the leadership of the recreation team, overseeing the delivery of high-quality leagues, events, programs, and classes that foster both physical fitness and social well-being.
- Ensure every program provides a safe, welcoming, and impactful
experience:
for our members. Key Accountabilities: Carries out supervisory
responsibilities:
in accordance with HealthFitness policies, procedures and applicable laws including recruiting, orienting, training, evaluating, developing, and planning the succession of recreation associates.
- Plans, assigns, and directs work assignments to ensure recreation staff remain challenged and productivity is maximized.
- Development of weekly staff work schedules for the Recreation business unit.
- Ensures all recreation staff is properly trained and hold appropriate certifications necessary for safe and effective recreation program delivery; provides continuous feedback to all recreation staff to ensure quality of all programs and services.
Completes formal performance appraisals and formal corrective action process when warranted.
- Leads regular staff meetings to ensure associates are informed
about:
HealthFitness and Walmart business events. Submits employment forms, payroll records, and billing worksheets accurately and according to contract provisions and HealthFitness policies. Directs the development and implementation of recreation programming for the yearly strategic business plan in collaboration with the BOD, GM, and client representatives.
- Tracks and reports to the BOD and GM regarding Monthly and Quarterly Business plans.
Works in tandem with the BOD and GM to lead the development, interpretation, and enforcement of all systems, policies and procedures of the recreation facilities, programs, and services. Scheduling of league play and special events. (Walmart games, triathlon, shareholders, and teambuilding). Coordination of resources (e.g., supply management, referees, indoor/outdoor areas).
Coordination with organizations regarding recreational based events in the community (e.g., 5K Runs, or city leagues).
- Tracking of recreation participant, program usage data, resource utilization, and statistical outcomes reporting for league play and or special events.
Directs the implementation of recreation programs and special events; supports the coordination of recreation marketing and communications to maximize program engagement.
- Manages all recreation related program activities in accordance with HealthFitness operational, quality, safety, and service standards.
- Maintains accurate recreation records and ensures confidentiality of data collected during activities is in accordance with HealthFitness
requirements:
, including applicable file transfer, processes, collaborating with related suppliers and/or storage.
- Coordinates recreation internship program; oversees the recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of student interns.
- Management of applicable service contracts.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Physical

working in the field of recreation, at or above the level of a Coordinator or equivalent combination of

Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications through the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, National Safety Council or American Safety & Health Institute. Strong leadership, team management, interpersonal and customer service

including the ability to motivate others. Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands, meet deadlines, and collaborate with all business units. Preferred: Master’s Degree. Certifications: NRPA (The National Recreation and Park Association) Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP); NIRSA Affiliation (National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association).
Computer proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook; and working knowledge of the member management system, databases, and tools.
Compensation:
$65,000/Year - $75,000/Year. Pay is dependent on
