Job DetailsJob Location: UPPER SCHOOL - MIAMI, FL 33133Junior Counselors are rising 11th or 12th-grade students who support Senior Counselors and Activity Instructors in creating a safe, fun, and engaging camp environment for children in Kindergarten through 4th grade. They assist with daily routines, help supervise campers during activities and transitions, and serve as positive role models for younger participants.

Responsibilities:
Camp by the Bay runs from June 15 to July 24, with a mandatory staff orientation from June 10 to June 12. There will be no camp on June 19 and July 3. Primary daily work hours are 8:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the possibility of additional after-camp work opportunities until 4:30 p.m. (based on enrollment and staffing needs).
Applicants who are not available for the full camp period are still encouraged to apply; however, preference will be given to applicants who are able to work the entire session.
- Assist with camper check-in and check-out each morning and afternoon, ensuring a warm welcome and smooth transition at the start and end of each day.
- Support Senior Counselors and Activity Instructors during camp activities by helping manage group behavior, distributing materials, and maintaining safety protocols.
Escort and supervise campers during transitions between activities, lunch, and other camp-wide events. Bring consistent high energy, enthusiasm, and positivity to every part of the camp day, creating a fun, welcoming atmosphere where campers feel excited, encouraged, and genuinely cared for. Remain calm, patient, and professional in all situations, using positive tones, age-appropriate communication, and respectful behavior management, while avoiding raised voices, negative attitudes, or personal phone use during camp hours.
Serve as the “bright spot” in each camper’s day by showing energy, kindness, and genuine excitement, helping create an environment where children feel safe, happy, and eager to participate.
- Handle challenges with maturity and composure, maintaining calm and encouraging communication with campers at all times, and modeling.
Encourage camper participation and positive interactions by modeling respectful behavior and enthusiasm for camp activities.
- Communicate any camper concerns or issues promptly to Senior Counselors or camp administration.
- Help maintain clean and organized activity areas, including setting up and breaking down equipment as needed.
- Assist with additional camp logistical operations as needed (car line, etc…) at the direction of the Camp Director.

Rising 11th or 12th-grade student with an interest in working with children.
- Demonstrated responsibility, maturity, and willingness to learn from Senior Counselors and camp staff.
Ability to follow instructions, collaborate with others, and step in to support campers’ needs as they arise. Enthusiasm for engaging children in athletics, arts, performing arts, and STEM activities. Strong communication and interpersonal
