    Package - watch this video here FOREST CREW COORDINATOR (FCC) Since 1951, ODF has utilized Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC), Adults in Custody (AIC) to maintain and protect state forest lands. As a Forest Crew Coordinator, you will direct the activities of AICs and provide guidance and direction in direct support of State Forest Management and Fire Protection Programs.

    Most of this work is conducted on state land directing and coordinating a 10-man AIC work crew completing reforestation and recreation work. During the summer AIC crews also function as a 10-person wildland fire suppression crew. We are looking for someone who is eager and willing to work in an outdoor forestry environment associated with this job.

    This includes: Willingness to perform arduous or strenuous work in forestry and forest fire situations (including smoke, heat, difficult terrain, loud noises, hot or cold climates). Obtaining Firefighter Type II (FFT2), Firefighter Type I (FFT1), and Single Resource Boss (CRWB) certifications Inspects tools, equipment and vehicles for proper operation and safety.

    • Maintains communications with DOC & ODF staff via portable and mobile radio.
    • Trains and directs the work of an AIC crew performing forestry activities such as tree planting, tree protection, saw release, or recreation projects such as facility & trail maintenance, construction, and landscaping.
    • Trains and directs AICs in fire suppression techniques.

    Instructs AICs in the proper use of hand and power tools. Transports crew to and from work projects and fires. *Potential eligibility for overtime/comp time. *Pathway for promotion. Work Capacity Test Requirement Some jobs, like firefighting, require passing a job-related Work Capacity Test to meet minimum

    qualifications:

    Ability to train AICs in reforestation and fire suppression activities. Ability to transport AIC’s to and from work projects. Basic knowledge of the use, operation, and maintenance of hand tools, power tools and chainsaws. Skill in directing and coordinating the activities of a crew (orienting, motivating, reviewing, assigning and/or scheduling work).
