    Summary/Objective The Custodial & Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing consistent, high-quality custodial services and day-to-day facility maintenance support for Ponsse USA’s Rhinelander Headquarters and associated off-site facility (Brown Shop). This role ensures a clean, safe, professional, and well-maintained environment by performing daily sanitation, routine upkeep, preventative maintenance tasks, groundskeeping, seasonal snow removal, and basic repair work.

    The position also supports safety inspections and operational needs as assigned. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Custodial / Sanitation (Daily + Routine) • Clean and sanitize bathrooms daily, including floors; perform comprehensive bathroom cleaning weekly.

    • Sweep, mop, and maintain walkways, corridors, stairwells, entrances, and common areas; dust walls as needed.
    • Vacuum carpeted areas daily and clean breakrooms, conference rooms, and office spaces per schedule.
    • Empty trash and recycling daily (including shipping/receiving and shop areas) and manage dumpster needs as required.
    • Disinfect high-touch areas (door handles, light switches) daily and perform disinfecting/deep cleaning as needed.
    • Clean microwaves, sinks, drinking fountains, locker rooms/showers, and other common fixtures on a weekly or as-needed basis.
    • Wash interior windows and door sills monthly or as needed; clean inside light fixtures weekly.

    Facility Maintenance / Preventative Maintenance • Monitor lighting; change bulbs, clean lenses, and notify supervisor when ballasts or electrical issues require escalation.

    • Perform painting and small repair work as needed (walls, fixtures, minor facility tasks).
    • Change HVAC/furnace filters as needed; clean wash bay monthly or as needed.
    • Maintain shop air systems by checking compressor oil weekly; service shop air make-up unit (filter changes twice per year; grease bearings).
    • Perform small maintenance tasks and support basic preventative maintenance tracking/notifications.

    Groundskeeping / Seasonal Support • Perform snow removal at entrance doors and shop service doors to maintain safe access.

    • Mow lawn, weed, and maintain exterior appearance as needed; maintain lawn equipment (oil changes, blade sharpening).
    • Drag lot with end loader as needed and support seasonal cleanup.
    • Provide grounds support at the Brown Shop (off-site storage facility), including mowing and basic exterior upkeep.

    Safety / Support Functions • Complete monthly safety walks and fire extinguisher inspections; monitor exit lights and report issues.

    • Perform parts runs and other support errands as needed.
    • Support event/training setups or facility readiness activities as assigned.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    responsibilities:

    Work Environment This role operates across a professional office environment, shop/service areas, breakrooms, locker rooms, and exterior grounds. Work may involve exposure to typical shop conditions such as noise, dust, temperature changes, cleaning chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions (including snow/ice).

    Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This role requires regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing stairs, and repetitive motion. Must be able to lift, push, and pull items and equipment associated with cleaning, maintenance, event setup, snow removal, and groundskeeping.

    Work includes indoor and outdoor physical activity in varying temperatures. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Standard hours are Monday–Thursday, 10-hour shifts, with flexibility required at times to support weather events, facility needs, or operational priorities. Travel This position requires no travel.

    Local travel between Rhinelander HQ and the Brown Shop may be required. Required
